PROJECT DESCRIPTION

To host the Commonwealth Games in 2022. Birmingham needed a Diving Board to meet the exact specifications required by World class sport.

The project comprised of the construction of three new diving platforms to accommodate 2 x 1m springboards, 3 x 3m springboards, and a tower with 1m, 3m, 5m, 7.5m and 10m platforms respectively. 

The structures needed to be designed to meet the strict dynamic performance requirements stipulated by FINA.

The 10 metre high competitive dive tower was designed using precast concrete. Calculations were needed to ensure the correct amount of reinforcement and fire resistance as well as ensuring it would meet the sports requirements.

Materials used needed to be approved for use in a pool environment.
